Cover piece for ILLUSTRATION DIARY VOL. 2 (my second Ohuhu A4 hardcover marker sketchbook!). Awakened on 27 NOVEMBER 2021.

This was sketched and partially rendered two years ago, but it was only recently that I was able to finish it. I had to keep faithful to how I rendered at the time to preserve the "documentation", as it were, to how things were at the time period I did this. That is why Kidde is there instead of Starscream, as this was before the concept of Husbands were fully realized ... but I knew that Wayne Hylics and Elder-kun were beyond just simple husbando crushes at that point! ♥ And that I had a special bond with Kidde.

Week 2 of my SKYTOBER 2022 Illustration Series!  Something about the prompts of that week *really* ignited my art muse, thus I began deviating from the original “only sketches” plan and let myself add color using different medium approaches!  This week’s cover art is inspired by the works of 96YUZU, one of my all-time favorite Sky artists.

09 PERFORMANCE: “YO YO YO!!  This is DJ KRILLIN’ AND PARTY KRILL, READY TO LIGHT UP THE STARS-!!  LEMME HEAR THOSE SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAMS~!!!”  Upon learning how to use a DJ set in realms beyond the Sky Kingdom, Azzarah and PARTY begin getting some special gigs to some parties!

10 MEDITATION: Kidde and Moro found a meditation candle from Roneku, and Kidde’s guts are busted!!  Moro, however seems to not find his brother’s message as hilarious...

11 RAINBOW: “You’re the reason why I try my best to spread rainbows n’ good vibes everywhere I go .... ‘cuz you’re my rainbow in a dead kingdom.  I’ll always adora ya, my beautiful little goddess. ♥”

12 NEW FRIEND: Upon the newly born Sissyin feeling overwhelmed from boisterous bullies, a smaller figure approaches. “Here.  This is for you.  I’ll take you to a less overwhelming place.”

13 FREE DAY: “I’ll triumph.  Against all the odds that stand in my way.”

14 LAZY TIMES: If you find Kidde asleep, you may as well leave for a while; once she falls asleep, there’s no chance of waking her up! Thus she missed a candle run with her friends that day.

15 UNDERWATER: “Nothing will matter here. Not now. Or ever.” After having failed to safe The Primordial Moth from his corrupted brother and THE SEEKER, the other Elder of the Valley accepted their fate as they sank further and further into the infinite underwater abyss.

The Rocky Port incident... (2)

was trending in Japan last night, so here's a post magazine release follow-up.

I was looking forward to hearing japanese readers' thoughts, but the source text itself is pretty vague which didn't help them either.

At least now the JP version is available, so I tried my hand on translating it as literally as possible.

Here's a simplified summary from Japanese user @manganouA (x) :

Just a clarification that "Hachinosu" and "Pirate Island", "Wang Zhi" and "Ochoku" are used interchangeably.

A common interpretational agreement is that Law definitely got onboard the wrong ship, and very likely the ship wasn't even going to Hachinosu. Artur's translation was incorrect, Law didn't board the smuggling ship. Pew's team updated their translation with Artur's version, even though their initial interpretation was right.

Law gained information that a smuggling ship heading to Hachinosu used a specific Kingdom's flag as their cover, and mistakenly hopped onboard a REAL ship belonging to that Kingdom- full of passengers and the King himself. The level of catastrophic clumsiness you'd expect from Luffy...

Man scratch that. it was clumsy even for Luffy's standard 😔

Another point to note, the term used to describe Law-Koby-BB combo was "共闘する形", so a combative pact is more appropriate than an alliance (同盟) - which was used for Law's pact with Luffy, and later Kidd (vs Big Mom). Nothing unexpected though.

My entire timeline is people cracking jokes about Law's blunder so I'm cherry picking a few of them.

Law: Crap, I blew it up... This is the wrong ship isn't it? (Cora ghost: Gee, Law... you're also the clumsy type aren't you?)

Blackbeard arrives on luxurious Saber of Xebec, Koby arrives on a naval ship, and Trafalgar Law is somehow on a passenger's ship.

No matter how big of a mistake I make in future, I might be able to console myself thinking, "well, even Law kun got on a wrong ship."

Koby: Misunderstanding? What do you mean? No matter how you look at it, it's an act of terrorism against a Kingdom!

Law: How annoying... I'm in a state of confusion myself! I've no time to deal with the marines.

I got onboard a wrong ship!!!

Koby (after having Alvida flashback): I see. What a disaster, my heart goes out to you. Let's call it a temporary truce and defeat Ochoku first.

Law: You're convinced?!

The character in the middle is another Husband, Wayne Hylics!  From the HYLICS series, which is another community I’m really involved in. :D Elder-kun initially became a husbando on Thanksgiving last year, which was when I drew this ... but, for some reason, the image of Elder-kun using a katana

Oh yeah, as you probably saw in the tags on my Skytober post, his brother was going through a massive corruption arc from jealousy and hate and was also influenced by a god (the antagonist of the previous MCS arc), but fear not!  He realized what he was doing was wrong and that they were always meant to be together.  For that reason, I’m trying to do more doodles and illustrations with both of the Valley Elders actually together because come on!  My older sibling isn’t my twin but we’re literally inseparable!  We have our own lives, yeah, but we literally talk every day (pssst go follow @monarch-moon​, that’s my steemky sister and we like lose 10 years of brain maturity while we’re together).

A day where the most unexpected happened .... The 4th Host fragment was discovered. And the 4th Husband.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRICKERS OF THE FRICK RACE!!

We kick of 2024 with a comic I started back in FREAKING AUGUST-!! SOLANNE CONTINUUM presents "SUIKAWARI", based on the Japanese summer activity! Which - they are playing mildly incorrectly (person is supposed to be spun around until dizzy and they whack with a stick, NOT A DIVINE KATANA!).

Also, it's been a HOT minute since I've featured our beloved Valley Elders (ESPECIALLY ELDER-KUN ♥), but lo - another Husband appears forth! He's just trying to make up with Kidde for starting off on the wrong foot back in May www

Overall, despite the compounded focus/energy/interest issues, I managed to get this done. As a Host (read: creator), there is such an IMMENSE satisfaction taking a Paracosm scene out of my head and onto paper, and it always makes the comic-making toil worthwhile.

The Three Captain's Interview (2021) Part 2: Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy & Namikawa Daisuke as Kidd - Translated

I've decided not to half-ass it, here's the remaining part of the interview with Namikawa san and Mayumi san's answers.

👒 : Tanaka Mayumi (Luffy)

Q. How did you feel when you got the role?

👒: I was mostly indifferent, as the work (the manga) itself was unknown to me back then. In retrospect, I think it was for the best. I mean, if you know it's a deeply beloved work, you'd feel greedy, won't you? That's why I passed the audition without feeling nervous. Looking back now, maybe it matched Luffy's freedom.

🌷: I remember vividly. Among the eleven rookies with more than 100 million bounty, Kidd's was the highest. I had a clear image of the voice that would express Kidd's powerful appearance, but I couldn't imagine myself playing the role of Kidd. So, I didn't know how to do the voice. I kept thinking about it while recording. I still have a hard time doing Kidd's voice, but it was even harder back then than it is now.

Q. Did you have any specific thoughts or feelings while playing in One Piece?

👒: In One Piece, there is the unshakable pillar called 'Eiichiro Oda' , but it's not enough to rely on him. I want people to think, "Wow, One Piece really is amazing" when - including myself, all the individual creators' imagination, music, scenarios, and everything else come together! We'd like to continue to create moments in anime that surpass the original manga.

🌷: Many One piece fans would say it's "fire" when expressing their opinions. Thinking about what makes them feel fired up, I can clearly see it in the scripts. The lines of a good scene are spread over several cuts. I feel that the timing; or rather, the process of speech delivery is given a high importance. So, in pursuit of an impact on the audience, when the scripts says "haah?" I myself try to stretch it with "HA~aah??" - to make everyone feel even more fired up.

[T/N: The Japanese word used was "hot", while "fire" expresses a different type of feeling, I think it works as a closer substitute.]

Q. Impression of the character you're currently playing?

👒: Someone who accepts his weakness, says "I can't" when he can't do something and then relies on his friends, and never wavers from the freedom of doing so.

🌷: He's surprisingly kind and considerate of his crew mates. He'd often say "Let's go!" and bring along some of them, but that's not because he's afraid. I interpret it as saying, "I'll protect y'all no matter what, so let's enjoy the thrill of going ahead together!"

Q. Thoughts on Mayumi Tanaka's Luffy?

🌷: Unwavering...isn't he? The story moves on, but the same old Luffy is always there. Regardless of the state you're in while watching anime, you can always relax and enjoy One piece. I think this is where Mayumi san's Luffy comes off as an undisputed champion. It's quite difficult to keep things the same for decades, so I have deep respect for it.

Q. Thoughts on Daisuke Namikawa's Kidd and Hiroshi Kamiya's Law?

👒: Some voice actors separate their personal lives from work, but those two are as transparent as I am! It doesn't have to do with their roles, but that makes it comfortable to work with them, so I enjoy it a lot.

🌷: Law looks cool, but he has his passionate sides; he has the calm aura, but he also becomes emotional. You need to incorporate a variety of elements to express those subtle ups and down in a Law-like manner, so I think it's an incredibly difficult role. That's why I think Kamiya kun puts a lot of thoughts and efforts in his performance.

That said, I can't help but feel a storm of jealousy regarding their rankings in the worldwide popularity poll (laughs). Law was in top 5, and Kid was 23rd. Even though they don't have the same screentime frequency, they were introduced at the same time, yet the difference was so big... Like, I understand Law's charm, but it was frustrating!

Q. Do you think it's possible to win against Kaidou?

👒: Of course, it's possible. But the absolute winner has to be Tesshô Genda (Kaido's voice actor). I don't think I can compete with that deep voice.. Well, I'd win though (laughs)

🌷: I want to believe that Kidd wouldn't lose his heart over his defeats. He doesn't intend to be beaten by anyone.

(T/N: Fun fact, Mayumi Tanaka doesn't read the manga. She only learns the manga's events when she reads her script. Sanji's actor Hiroaki Hirata does the same, and he admitted that he doesn't know much of the parts of story where sanji is absent.)

“(Y/N), What is it this time?” A young Kidd asked his best friend whom he was staying in an abandoned building.

“It’s nothing Kidd~kun.”

“(Y/N)?” Kidd crossed his small arms over his chest. You sigh looking away.

“Am I ugly?”

“Waah? Why are you asking that suddenly?” Kidd blush looking away.

“It’s just okay other kids call me ugly all the time.

“You are perfect.”

“Even with a stomach?” Kidd sighed and held his best friend’s shoulders.

“P.E.R.F.E.C.T. Perfect. Do you understand me to ignore them they are jealous.” Kidd said. You smiled and hugged him.

“You are the best friend a girl could ever have.”

“Yeah yeah yeah.”

The Kidd Pirates landed on Saboady Island along with other Supernovas and Kidd was too busy feeling personally assaulted in Law’s presence.

“Damn bastard.”

“Captain. Try not to let him get to you.” Heat said.

“Yeah, easier said than done. When he is around everything is fucking wrong.”

“I mean if you wanna fight I’m fine with that,” Law said Calmly which only pissed Kidd off more.

“I will gla~” Kidd was cut off as he heard yelling.

“Stop her!”

“How dare she start trouble with us.”

“Hahaha, suckers!”

“How the hell did she get the collar off.”

“I want my slave back get her!” A celestial dragon yelled. Kidd and the others turned and Kidd has seen a girl that looked familiar. Too familiar. (H/C) check, (E/C) check, (H/Style) check, on a chubbier side check.

“(Y/N),” Kidd mumbled narrowing his eyes and everyone looked at him.

“You know her.”

“Where is my wallet!?” The same celestial dragon yelled.

“Fucker that’s what you get for putting a high bid on me.” You stop and stick your tongue out.

“Don’t underestimate my strength or skill.” She dodged an attack and started to run again. She blinked and saw a familiar redhead.

“Kidd???”

“You causing trouble (Y/N).”

“Me trouble never! I’m innocent.” She said grinning and hugging her best friend.

“But I can’t talk if you can’t tell I’m being chased.

“Might want to start running as well marines are on their way.”

“Shit.” The groups said and everyone started to run.

“How many. 10 ships.”

“WHY!?” Saboady may or may not have been dealing with me purposely getting caught stealing from celestial killing them and running away if I kept them alive for the past 3 years.”

“You are crazy.”

“Me never I’m innocent.”

“WHAT PART OF THAT IS INNOCENT!?” Long-nosed said.

“Shut it long nose.” You glared and he threw his hands up.

“You certainly changed since I saw you.”

“Of course I did. I’m not the overly sensitive, crybaby I was before.”

“I think I may miss that,” Kidd yelled while running.

“Your fault you made me a narcissist.” Kidd’s crew sweatdrop. And you suddenly stopped and took a camera out.

“Which by the way I look good in his sister’s clothes.” You snapped a picture and started to run again. Once they all got away You collapsed on the ground panting.

“I’m tired now. Maybe I should lose weight.”

“How long have you been running 15 minutes.” Kidd shook his head.

“So are you gonna introduce me to your crew?” You smile and Kidd looks away.

“Uhm yeah. This is Heat and Wire, Killer, And the rest of my crew.” Your sweatdrop.

“And your friends?”

“Who?” Your motion to Law, Luffy, and the other supernovas.

“Don’t get it twisted (Y/N). I can’t stand Law more than anyone else and everyone else I can’t stand either.”

“Could have fooled me.” Law came up to you just to piss off Kidd and kiss your hand and you raise an eyebrow.

“Well aren’t you a char~”

“You fucking bastard. Don’t kiss her hand.” Kidd grabbed Law’s arm pulling him back from you and you blinked.

“Kidd be nice”

“Not to him.”

“Nice isn’t in Kidd’s dictionary I am X Drake by the way.”

“Well, y’all must be rivals or something cause he is nice to me.”

Kidd shrugged and pulled you to him.

“You should join my crew.”

“Nope.”

“Why you already have a bounty.”

“Still don’t wanna become a pirate.”

“(Y/N)...” Kidd said looking at you.

“Fine fine I will.”

“Well that’s too bad I was gonna ask you to join a stronger crew (y/n),” Law said and Kidd’s eye twitched.

“No, I want her to become my Nakama.”

“Luffy no.”

“But Nami...”

“She joined Kidd’s crew already,” Usopp said. You blinked and laughed.

“You guys are funny hey Kidd...” Kidd pulled you away from everyone so you guys would be alone.

“(Y/N)...” Kidd said looking at you. You were his weakness and that’s why he had to get you alone.

“Yes, Kidd?”

“I missed you.” Kidd looked away with a blush and you smiled brightly at him. He kissed you softly on the lips holding your waist. You smiled into the kiss hugging his neck.

“Wow didn’t expect the big bad pirate to have a soft spot.”

“For you, I always will.”

“I missed you too .” You finally said and he smiled but it looked more like a smirk.

“You should join my crew.”

“I planned to.”

“Why were you giving me a hard time then?”

“Because that’s what I do.”

“You are evil.”

“I know.” Kidd buried his face in your hair.

“You look amazing.”

“Thank you.”

“Even more perfect which shouldn’t be possible,” Kidd mumbled.

“You shouldn’t feed my ego. Just saying.”

“I know I can’t help it though you are amazing and perfect.”
